  • One-pass and two-pass encoding methods now available along with three-pass encoding to give choice of speed vs. quality (see docs)

  • QuickRip defaults to CLI if no X display is found

• QuickRip 0.6
  • You can change various settings: paths to mplayer/mencoder/tcprobe, the default output directory, and deinterlacing and aspect ratios for mencoder
  • These settings are stored in a configuration file (~/.quickriprc) which is automatically created in the first execution
  • Both the CLI and GUI modes have a handy method of changing the settings, and saving the changes to the config file
  • BUGFIX: CLI mode now has quit option
  • BUGFIX: Rip DVD button in GUI only enabled when sufficient options have been set (became broken in 0.5)
  • BUGFIX: Re-did GUI so it resizes properly
  • BUGFIX: second video pass now pipes the video to /dev/null, which dramatically speeds up the ripping process
  
  
• QuickRip 0.5
  • CLI (command line interface) mode now included, featuring an easy-to-use menu system to set all the usual ripping settings, and progress bars that automatically size for the width of your command line. You can't, yet, stop and start the process easily.
  • A spiffy new logo is included, courtesy of Ali Clark, based upon the listening gnu by the Nevrax Design Team
  • A helpful help message is printed if run with the standard "--help" argument

  • Major re-write of code structure to allow for an inheritable generic DVD class (dvd.py), which has functions for scanning and ripping DVDs, with functions that act as hooks to an interface, with a PyQt interface already implemented (gui.py), and a command line interface (CLI) in the pipelines (cli.py)
  • Progress dialogue shows the name of the track being ripped
  • BUGFIX: Ripping multiple tracks works ("frameno.avi" sometimes wasn't removed after each rip)
